    L&D Adviser (Learning Partner)

    Main purpose of job:

    The Diplomatic Academy Regional Teams (DART) provide innovative and creative learning solutions to meet the needs of the UK Government overseas. We partner with British Missions (Posts) to ensure learning is based on performance outcomes and aligned to UK Government priorities. We work to ensure that learning activities are designed to best-practice L&D standards, based on solid research and contribute to building a positive learning culture within the workplace.

    The role of the L&D Adviser (LP) in Africa will be to design, deliver and implement blended learning programmes based on organisational priorities and regional needs related to performance outcomes.

    Roles and responsibilities:

    Partner with Posts and Business Partners (BP) on Learning solutions

    • Partner with BPs and Posts to design and deliver learning solutions that meet identified needs/performance outcomes
    • Ensure learning solutions are designed and delivered using best-practice L&D methodologies consistent with Modern Workplace Learning. Ensure solutions are built as programmes and make use of appropriate technology.
    • Evaluate L&D solutions to ensure performance outcomes are achieved.

    Facilitation

    • Facilitate Leadership & Management Development programmes
    • Support Management Development cohorts including Line Management learning sets
    • Act as live or virtual facilitators, community managers and moderators for online communities and groups
    • Lead cohorts of learners through programmes of learning in support of Diplomatic Academy Faculties
    • Work with Subject Matter Experts (SME) to deliver targeted learning through virtual platforms
    • Develop SME L&D expertise through face to face and virtual facilitation

    Content Management

    Curate and manage content across key thematic areas

    Essential qualifications, skills and experience
    • Excellent English language skills
    • Able to communicate and facilitate both virtual and live (face to face) groups effectively
    • Learning design skills to devise and implement learning solutions
    • Consultative and partnering skills
    • Content management and curation ability
    • Capability in community and group moderation to lead groups in virtual environments
    • Min 5 years in a L&D and/or OD environment either public or private sector
    • Experience of working in a multi-cultural environment
    • Able to travel as and when required
    • A passion and enthusiasm for developing people

    Protocol Assistant

    Main purpose of job:

    The successful candidate will join a busy Protocol Team of four members of staff in providing on-going administrative support to UK based officers and their families, processing diplomatic documentation through various Kenya Government Departments. The job requires a flexible approach to managing the workload; very good communication and interpersonal skills including good accuracy and attention to detail. The job holder should be able to work under pressure with a view to meeting deadlines and staff expectations. It is important that the candidate demonstrate good self-management and effective organisational skills.

    Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

    • Accreditation of UK Based staff with MFA
    • Processing applications for Diplomatic ID cards
    • Processing of local driving licenses
    • Uploading documents in electronic INDIV files
    • Raising purchase orders and receiving invoices
    • Leave cover for other Protocol team members
    • Day to day administrative support to the Protocol team on other responsibilities

    Other Protocol Team Responsibilities:

    • Processing of Duty exemptions PRO 1B forms for personal effects and vehicles
    • Registration of Private and official vehicle
    • Kenya Revenue PIN applications and uploading online
    • Processing Resident’s permit applications
    • Briefing new arrivals on Work Injury Benefits Insurance for domestic staff
    • Briefing staff on private vehicle insurance and co-ordinating with Insurance companies
    • Obtain duty calculations for official and private vehicles for departing officers
    • Processing vehicle disposing Form PRO1C and liaising with Customs’ agent
    • VAT exemption applications
    • Updating Corporate Services Kenquiry through CS Helpdesk
    • Processing Airport Passes applications
    • Third Country Visa applications
    Essential qualifications, skills and experience
    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum 1 year working experience
    • Excellent IT skills (a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word is essential);
    • The candidate must be able to demonstrate excellent written and spoken communication in English skills
    • Initiative and attention to detail
    • Ability to prioritise, multi-task and work to tight timeframes
    • A flexible approach to priorities
    • Effective team working
    • Fluent written and spoken English and Kiswahili
    Desirable qualifications, skills and experience
    • Working in a diplomatic Mission’s Protocol Section will be an added advantage
