Job Summary
Under the direction of the Maintenance Engineer you will ensure the design, construction, repair and maintenance of all fire, intrusion and life safety systems (systems) meet Hotel expectations. You will receive and evaluate work orders and requests, investigate requests and troubleshoot problems where appropriate as well as establish priorities and coordinate with contractors, when required to make necessary repairs. In addition to that you will provide subject matter expertise related to systems as well as manage the work of outside contractors to make sure all work meets Hotel requirements and applicable codes.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Runs maintenance works ensuring all systems are properly maintained, all tests conducted at the appropriate times and services are available during all operational periods. Reviews costs, makes recommendations and adjustments as needed. This includes items such as fire hydrants, fire doors, fire dampers, fire extinguishers, heat and smoke detectors and ANSUL systems used in kitchens.
- Instructs employees in the use of systems. Establishes and coordinates alarm codes and keeps a record of those having access to such codes.
- Coordinates required fire alarm and other functional tests and assists with practice drill evacuations. Reviews fire and life safety systems with Fire Marshall’s office and local inspectors to ensure legal and safe systems.
- Maintains inventory of essential parts and equipment to ensure repairs and installation in a timely manner.
- Conducts independent fire inspections to ensure fire and life safety code compliance.
- Responds to Hotel emergencies including furnishings and fixtures to prevent damage or operational problems.
- Maintains appropriate records as required.
- Responds to phone, email, voice mail, verbal and written work orders.
- Knows and understands all safety procedures of the Hotel. Observes the work of contractors and brings safety concerns to their attention as needed. Reports all unsafe acts and conditions which remain uncorrected to supervisor. Allows no work to be performed when conditions are considered unsafe.
- Attends regular Fire, Life and Safety meetings and participates in problem solving and discussions of the FLS aspect.
- Remains current on new technology, methodology and equipment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree or Diploma in Engineering or a relevant course
- Minimum two years experience with Fire and Life Safety code compliance, service and maintenance across a broad spectrum of fire and life safety systems.
- Experience in inspecting Fire and Life Safety Systems.
