    Communications Manager

    In This Role, You Will:

    • Develop and execute a strong communications action plan and initiatives based off the communications strategy objectives and TJNA’s overall strategic plan.
    • Direct and ensure all channels of communications are properly positioned within TJNA’s diverse audience forums across the continent and that campaign strategies are well aligned for meaningful engagement.
    • Build and oversee the management of the communications unit with skilled staff to support the department’s objectives and expectations.
    • Cultivate relationships with media professionals and relevant stakeholders.
    • Manage the growth of TJNA’s audience base with increased outreach.
    • Manage the communications budget.
    • Ensure quality control of all communications.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors’ Degree in communications, journalism, public relations or relevant field. (Masters is strongly preferred.)

    Core Skills and Experience

    • At least seven years of professional experience, with 5 years in a leadership role at senior management level.
    • Proven track record in the management of teams, especially remote diverse teams.
    • Proven experience in strategic communications, crisis communications, implementation of successful campaigns and messaging for multi layered audiences.
    • Proficiency with communications technologies and use of tools like Meltwater.
    • Demonstrated experience in public relations and stakeholder management skills.
    • Understanding of the development context in Africa including a good understanding of Civil Society environment in Africa and globally.
    • Highly articulate and bilingual in English and French, with excellent writing and presentation skills.
    • Proven experience in planning, budgeting and resource allocation.
    • You are personable, flexible, creative, a team player and an analytic thinker.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage activities simultaneously and meet deadlines, with attention to detail and quality.
    • Experience working in civil societies and international NGOs is strongly preferred.
    • Experience with and commitment to working in a very diverse workforce.
    • Willing to travel, expected travel less than 25% of the time.

    Partnerships and Institutional Learning Manager

    In This Role, You Will:

    • Develop the Sub Grantee’s strategy, policy and systems.
    • Develop an action plan for implementation of the partners’ membership strategy.
    • Implement the learning management system in the Knowledge Hub.
    • Build and oversee the management of the Capacity Development, Partnerships and Knowledge Management unit with skilled staff to support the department’s objectives and align with the overall organisational strategy.

    Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Bachelors’ Degree in International Development, Public Administration or Public Affairs, Social Studies or other relevant field. (Masters is strongly preferred.)

    Core Skills and Experience

    • At least seven years of professional experience, with 5 years in a leadership role at senior management level.
    • Proven leadership skills in management of teams, especially remote teams.
    • Proven experience in research, knowledge management, capacity building across multi-disciplinary functions.
    • Demonstrated partnership building and stakeholder management skills.
    • Knowledge and proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS).
    • Knowledge of the development context in Africa, including a good understanding of Civil Society environment.
    • Proven experience in organisational planning, budgeting and resource allocation procedures
    • Excellent oral and writing skills in English. French is an added advantage.
    • Highly organized, analytical, strategic thinker with strong attention to detail
    • Experience working in civil societies and international NGOs is strongly preferred.
    • Experience with and commitment to working in a very diverse workforce.
    • Experience working in developed and developing countries and in multicultural environments.
    • Willing to travel, expected travel less than 25% of the time.
