    Senior Legal Counsel

    About The Role

    The person will be responsible for legal & regulatory compliance as well as risk management in relation to the trading companies; reviewing laws and regulations applicable to the business and will also serve as a business partner for the HR & Finance Departments.

    • Key Roles and Responsibilities
    • Advising the Commercial and Product teams on legal & regulatory issues relating to LendTech’s products/services in all markets, including potential risks and measures that can be taken to mitigate such risks related to the products to avoid disputes and losses.
    • Research regulatory issues relating to LendTech’s products/services in all markets and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, contracts, and company policies.
    • Give proactive, prompt, and proper legal & regulatory advice to the management and user departments and keep them informed of the latest legal and regulatory developments as well as best practices.
    • Drafting and review of commercial IT and Telecommunication contracts
    • ESG compliance and sanctions monitoring in countries that LendTech operates in.

    Qualifications

    • Hold a Bachelor of Laws university degree in law from an accredited institution. A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage.
    • Certificate of admission to the role of advocates of the High Court of Kenya. Must possess a current practicing certificate
    • 5-7 years post-admission work experience, with a minimum of 2 years at a top-tier commercial law firm in Kenya within the corporate or commercial department, and in-house experience in a fintech or financial institution.
    • Strong contractual skills with demonstrated experience with drafting, negotiating and reviewing commercial-IT contracts.
    • Desired experience
    • Experience in the IT industry, banking, or financial services will be an added advantage.
    • Experience in handling cross-border commercial transactions including projects, corporate/ M&A, commercial contracts, litigation, ESG compliance, data privacy, sanctions, and investigations.
    • Experience working with international teams

    • Good grasp of the law, in interpretation as well as application

    HRBP - Performance Management

    The Position

    The responsibility of the HRBP - Performance Management is to develop an Agile performance management created for our brave new world that is faster, more social and more communicative and to oversee all activities related to performance management to ensure the effectiveness of our process.

    Duties and responsibilities

    • Design, implement and monitor an Agile Performance Management process specifically through managing the performance cycle, regular conversations, and continuous feedback that is linked to the business goals and objectives.
    • Create a dynamic goal setting process - Work in liaison with key stakeholders to establish and support the link between strategic business objectives and people’s day-to-day actions and tasks by implementing a process for tracking progression from goal-setting to career conversations, and evaluations.
    • Provide the right training to all stakeholders and manage organization-wide efforts to ensure that performance management and performance improvement programs are developed and managed and timely evaluated in line with ongoing strategic imperatives.
    • Provide development opportunities though talent management initiatives to address performance gaps related to capacity/knowledge gaps among staff and overall talent sourcing, management, and mobility programs.
    • Collaborate and advise on the design of the performance system in Lendtech
    • Drive and share best practices, tools/materials, and ongoing communication activities for performance improvement by developing guidelines and manuals that serve as reference documents.
    • Oversee the implementation of key performance measures, core competencies, and core values into the performance appraisal system.

    Selection Criteria

    • Including Desirable Skills, Knowledge, And Experience
    • Hold at least a relevant University Degree
    • Additional professional qualification/certification in Human Resources Management, or in performance management/knowledge in the Agile framework will be an added advantage
    • Have a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in Human Resources
    • Having Fintech experience will be an added advantage
    • Experience in leading performance improvement programs.
