    Portfolio Manager, Business Banking

    Job Purpose Statement

    The role holder is required to support in management and maintenance of a portfolio of customers within assigned market segments by analysing the portfolio to establish any trends and advise the Relationship and Branch teams of any matters arising that may affect the portfolio. They shall offer full support to the team in all matters portfolio including but not limited to identifying growth gaps, non-performing loans, portfolio trends and compliance. The role holder will support assigned segment by providing all business reports that will assist the team achieve its objectives.

    Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities)

    Financial 45%

    • This position is responsible for achievement of the assigned portfolios annual financial targets.
    • Achieve agreed revenues targets
    • Identify potential small and medium SMEs in the Business Banking portfolio/Branch managed book (VSE) and seek the opportunity to cross sell or upsell.
    • Support the growth and development of Very Small Enterprises (VSE) portfolio through various initiatives and strategies.
    • Help resolve credit problems, delinquent payment issues and other related affairs.
    • Review current account status, to include but not limited to past due accounts and notes matured. Make appropriate recommendations for these accounts.
    • Initiate credit calls with existing potential customers while keeping a record of all customer calls.
    • Foster effective working partnership with Business Banking Relationship Management team, retail staff, branch business and other partners with a view to grow the business.
    • Prepare BB portfolio activity reports for management as needed.

    Customer 30% 

    • This position is responsible for driving customer satisfaction, identifying opportunities for business development and providing insightful feedback on the assigned portfolios that help in the customization and development of solutions.
    • Demonstrate NCBA bank values
    • Monitor and assess activities of our competitors to proactively satisfy and retain our clients.
    • Provide feedback to management and stakeholders in respect to portfolio activities.
    • Provide reports of VSEs referrals, non RM Managed asset finance referrals, NPL & PAR reports and proposed mitigations.
    • Adherence to SLA.
    • Adopting and developing a network of strong partnerships with the Business and Business Support teams and other functions of the Bank.

    Internal business processes 20% 

    • This position is responsible for adhering to approved policies and procedures and providing feedback on the same to keep them competitive.
    • The jobholder will embrace a digital way of working that result in efficient and impactful engagement and accurate delivery of service.
    • Ensure all annual reviews of Overdraft and other Credit limits are undertaken promptly.
    • Achieve the set PAR and NPL targets
    • Satisfactory audit rating.
    • Prepare portfolio activity reports (Accounts under watch, Early Alert, pipeline reports, restructure) for management and portfolio review meetings (MCC, BCC etc) as needed.
    • Liaise with the Business Analytics Team and Credit Portfolio Team to ensure the right provision numbers are mapped to Business Banking portfolio.
    • Ensure BB write backs are promptly and correctly mapped in the Balance sheet

    Learning and growth 5% 

    • This position is responsible for delivering the performance objectives set and managing his/her own learning and development to build capacity and avail him/herself for coaching and training opportunities.
    • Attain required learning hours and adhere to policy on annual leave

    Ideal Job Specifications

    • Professional: Credit skills, sales and Knowledge of Business Banking products and policies is an added advantage

    Desired work experience: 

    • 5 years banking experience in a bank or lending setting and or training or equivalen combination of education and experience.
    • Working knowledge with Microsoft office
    • Credit skills and Knowledge of Business Banking products and policies is an added advantage
    • Good working experience with all Bank systems i.e. T24, Credit Quest, CRM , Vision , IBPS

    Head of Cash Management Product, E-Channels and E-Commerce

    Job Purpose Statement

    Responsible for growing/optimizing on new and existing Cash Management solutions and products to support both its domestic and cross border businesses and to ensure that the Bank sustains a strong value proposition for its customers while supporting the regional teams on Cash Management strategy.

    Key Role Requirements

    • Strategy: Development of the Cash Management Product strategy which feeds into the Bank strategy Strategically supporting growth of transactional revenues while providing effective client support and relationship development relating to Cash Management products, e-Channels, e-Commerce and services.
    • Leadership: Providing guidance to the Product team in effective delivery of strategic projects with excellent solutions in value preposition (bank and market), compliance and revenue generation.
    • Proposition: Delivery of a comprehensive suite of Payments, Collections, Liquidity Management, Channels and e-Commerce solutions through active and strategic engagement with relevant stakeholders to ensure the right products are delivered on time.
    • Execution: Build, lead and direct a Cash Management Product team focused on product management, client satisfaction, solution execution and revenue generation.
    • Governance: Represent Cash Management at local and international governance committees and forums and act as a champion for the department and bank to ensure that key objectives are prioritised appropriately

    Job Specifications

    Educational Qualifications

    • University degree with Upper 2nd Class and any other relevant Professional qualifications. A masters degree and professional course on management or Project Management will be an added advantage.

    Professional Experience

    • Strong transaction banking background (10+ years) with excellent product, systems and service knowledge with at least 5 Years’ in head of department to senior management positions relevant to technology-led corporate value chain creation and product development including in Transactional Banking.
    • Sound understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements of corporate governance, business and banking operations.
    • Comprehensive knowledge of functional policies and legislation.
    • Customer & Client Focused Innovation with ability to meet the current and future long-term demands of internal and external customers.
    • Ability to solve complex customer problems though the entire customer value chain.
    • Ability to establish key strategic partnerships and facilitate, influence, collaborate and establish accountability through all levels of the organization to help drive uptake of the Bank’s Cash Management products and services.
    • A strong appreciation for technology. digitization and commercial appreciation.
    • Ability to drive business and deliver strong results.
    • Ability to make complex decisions on behalf of the bank in relation to Cash Management.
    • Possess public relationship skills in both formal and social gatherings in order to establish/maintain effective working relationship with those interacted with.
    • Ability to lead, coach and motivate a cross functional team and while offering guidance on execution planning.
    • Excellent communication skills for both internal and external high level engagements.

    Investment Analyst

    Job Purpose Statement

    The Investment Analyst role is a technical role which entails preforming research and preparing analysis of economic, financial markets and financial instruments and products to support decision making by the wealth management investment team. As a Buy side analyst, the incumbent will assist the business in identify investment opportunities for their business.

    Key responsibilities;

    • Examining and assessing economic and market trends, earnings prospects, financial statements and various other indicators and factors to determine suitable investment strategies
    • Interact with the management of the companies or similar players that he/she is researching as well as interacting with other fund managers, placement agents and
    • investment issuers.
    • Looking back at previous investment decisions and the thought process of making the investment decision
    • Participate in client acquisition, report back and education events
    • Preparing market information for dissemination to clients/prospects The incumbent will be a member of the investment committee and shall play a lead role in information dissemination and knowledge enhancement to the whole team. The functions of this role will also be guided by requirements of the legislation regulating the firm.

    Ideal Job Specifications

    Academic & Professional:

    • Bachelor's degree in business or finance or related field.
    • Progress towards MBA and/or CFA designation or equivalent preferred.
    • Progress towards ICIFA and/or CISI qualification a requirement

    Desired work experience:

    • 3+ years related work experience in investment banking or financial analysis role in a busy establishment.
